What is Bud's Bold Bijoux?
Long story short, Buds is/was the amazing three legged dog/man of the house. After time passed, we had the lifetime best friend bond. I attribute it to our mutual physical handicaps (my legs don't work all of the time, but I do have them). This bijoux is meant to financially aid in my health journey.

Who is Bud? Why does he have a bijoux?
Have you ever met an animal and knew that you were going to be best friends? I have. I met Bullet when he was just a man, fully ready for retirement solely for the excuse to raise his paw and bark, "Get off my lawn, you crazy kids!"
We started to grow on each other and started off as friends. It then grew into an unconditional love. We were and will always be best friends.
Buds was our aging three-legged dog who is the full embodiment of a grumpy old man. (Sorry.) With only three legs, he is the coolest dog ever, especially because of his handicap.
Who We Are
Who are we?
Hey-o! I'm Mattie, the owner and jewelry designer at Bud's Bold Bijoux. I started designing and selling jewelry more than 20 years ago. A teacher I had was so awesome and inspiring that when she told me of a jewelry-making class she conducted outside of school, I begged my parents to let me attend. One class is all it took. My dad and I were regulars (yes, at that time he was better at shaping jewelry than I was. I was a child back then. Naturally, I had small hands and asked my dad to close some wires often enough for my jewelry.) Suddenly, I was selling my jewelry at farmer's markets with Mammy every Saturday. Madison's Jewelry was a great gig. Thankfully, it was early enough that everyone and their brothers were not using the slogan, "Designed with you in mind." Being at the markets with the community celebrity gave me the biggest advantages. Between all of Mammy's friends buying up my jewelry and learning how to network, I was able to engage and learn skills from other local jewelry designers.
Picture it: Adults with professional jewelry design businesses are competing with a ten-year-old. I had no idea what competition was and began studying their techniques. Being raised with manners and respect, I asked permission to use their technique in my designs. Permission granted!
Madison's Jewelry moved from farmer's markets to being sold in an actual store known as Two Sisters. That was a big deal to an eleven-year-old back then. I was being interviewed and in news articles, the city had never heard of such a thing. An eleven-year-old jewelry designer? Yup, that's me.
High school came running at full speed a few years later, thus my jewelry "career" became less of a priority. I was only attending the Farmer's Market to hang out with Mammy. Hanging out with my best friend and making a little money was the ideal Saturday morning every week. High school life went from being on cruise control to having a lead foot. I had no inkling that I was done making jewelry by the end of my high school career.
Why Are We?
Maybe you have seen our posts or hashtags about Bud's Bold Bijoux, but why does this site exist? Why do you give the option of tipping at checkout?
This is the boring but important part.
Once Mammy passed away, I was trying to find my work-life balance. I'm currently still working on that. I knew I needed a hobby other than playing with my dogs. With my own health problems emerging and worsening, life was hard. I was medically restricted from driving, several medical appointments per week made it impossible to maintain my on-site job, my medical conditions made everything feel impossible (not in an impending doom way, but in a physically handicapped way). I couldn't afford to be without health insurance, for obvious reasons. This was my solution, creating my passion into profit.
All profits from Bud's Bold Bijoux go directly to assisting in my medical journey.
Tipping at checkout? Solely for directly assisting in my medical journey. Completely optional. No guilt and no strings attached.
We want you looking as bold and stylish as you are inside. Coming from the kid that wears their bright pink dino outfit on a weekly basis, there's normal and then there's you. So be you, be bold, and be awesome. Oh, and wear bold awesome earrings.
